Former Connecticut Tiger Eugenio Suarez Off To Hot Start With Reds

I got to see Eugenio Suarez play every day with the Connecticut Tigers in 2011. After a few weeks I told a friend that you will be seeing Suarez in the majors one day. Suarez was called up by the Detroit Tigers in 2014 and did pretty well for a rookie on a team in a pennant race.

However, Suarez was traded to the Cincinnati Reds (with another former CT Tiger Jonathon Crawford) in the off season of 2015 for pitcher Alfredo Simon (a former Norwich Navigator.) I think this deal will come back to haunt Detroit.

Eugenio Suarez is off to a great start since being recalled by the Reds to replace the injured Zack Cozart last week.) Suarez got the game winning RBI Friday to help the Reds beat the Cubs in 10 innings. Then last night, Suarez blasted a two run homer off Cub pitcher James Russell (his first HR as a Red.)

Eugenio Suarez could really flourish as a Red, he has enough pop to hit and 15-20 homers in Cincinnati and played solid defense as well. It's a shame that Cozart went down as he was having the best year of his career. But it will give Suarez a chance to show what he can do. GO Eugenio!
